The academic year for FYJC and SYJC follows the Maharashtra State Board's HSC calendar — typically running from June/July to April, with internal assessments, terminal examinations and pre-board examinations spread across the year. Detailed timetables, term-wise lesson plans and the academic calendar are issued at the start of each academic year and are available with the class coordinators.
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) is awarded by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education in four grades, based on the aggregate marks across the seven subjects offered at the examination:
| Grade | Aggregate Marks |
|---|---|
| Grade I (With Distinction) | 75% and above |
| Grade I | 60% — less than 75% |
| Grade II | 45% — less than 60% |
| Pass | 35% — less than 45% |
The First Grade (with distinction) or First or Second Grade shall not be awarded to a candidate who appears for the examination with any exemption(s). If a candidate falls short of the first-grade aggregate by not more than 3 marks, grace marks (not exceeding 3) may be added towards the first-grade computation.
