The Arathi Shetty Junior (ASJC) college at Kurla is spread over an huge area. The teaching – learning process is facilitated in many class rooms, tutorial rooms, two specialized laboratories, three state-of-the-art Computer Centres with high speed Internet connectivity, a Seminar Room, an Auditorium and a fully Automated Library. The entire college campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
The construction of a new academic block has been completed and the teaching has started in new building
The Library is well-stocked and fully-computerized. It has around 30,000 books covering almost all aspects of Commerce & Science. It regularly subscribes to about 61 Periodicals including 10 daily newspapers in Hindi and English. Internet and OPAC facility is also available.. The Library has a “Book Bank” consisting of core texts books, which are issued to deserving students for the whole academic year. Services offered by the library are circulation, consultation, reference and inter- library loan. There is also a collection of audio-visual materials like maps, atlases, compact discs and audio-cassettes. The library has comfortable Reading Rooms spread over one floors with a seating capacity of 100. It extends its current awareness services by providing newspapers/ magazines in the St
aff Room and the Students’ Common Room. The library remains open from 9.00 a.m to 5.30 p.m on all working days. It remains closed on Sundays and other gazetted holidays.
There are three labs in the college with 95 terminals and Internet facilities for the students and teachers. These labs are also equipped with teaching aids such as LCD Projectors and Scanners. The College wants all its students to be conversant with modern learning aids. The entire college campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
The Laboratory is well equipped with different types of apparatus for conducting experiments, etc. A range of experiments is also available in the laboratory.The college has separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and IT.
All the laboratories are adequately equipped as per the Board norms.
In Physics, there is main Laboratories, 1 dark room where about 1 batch of 25 students each can work at a time.
In Chemistry, there is one big laboratory where 1 batch of 25 students each can work at a time.
Biology Department has one big laboratory, an instrument room, along with cubicles equipped with laminar airflow system. The laboratory is equipped with different species of animal and plants.
The Language Lab is equipped with a variety of instruments to facilitate the students in their communication Skills and hence equip them with skills of better personality development.
The Sports facilities in the college include a large Gymkhana. Intensive training is imparted under expert guidance. Each year, students of ASJC achieve notable distinctions, and many of them are selected for All India State and National tournaments. Facilities are provided for Athletics, Cricket , Table- Tennis, Volley Ball, Kabaddi and Cross Country.
Buntara Bhavan Auditorium has a seating capacity of 1000. It is fully air-conditioned and its light and sound system are currently being revamped. The Auditorium hosts various academic and cultural events of the college. It also encourages well-known cultural groups to hold their programmes for the benefit of the students and community.
The recently refurnished canteen is the hub of out-of-class discussions and exchange of information. It provides snacks, drinks and lunch at subsidized rates.
Banking services are provided by the Chunnabhatti branch of Vijaya Bank through an Extension Counter in the College. Depositing of fees etc.is done through this counter. Students can also open individual accounts with the bank.
The College provides Counselling services to students, throughout the academic session. An expert counsellor is available for consultation on all days – 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m
Note: AT ASJC, ‘Population Education Resource Centre’ provides Helpline Counselling Services on HIV, AIDS, Sexuality, Drug Abuse and other adolescent issues, for students. Awareness is provided by doctors and trained counsellors through peer group training programmes. These services as well as learning material, developed by the centre, may be availed of through the College.
Every student of the College will be provided with an Identity Card after her admission has been confirmed. This Card should always remain in her possession and should be produced as and when asked for. In case of its loss, the student will be required to get a duplicate one by making a payment of Rs.100/- and furnishing a copy of her photograph.
Fee Concession is granted to very needy and deserving students. Application for fee concession, on the prescribed form (available with the cashier), must be submitted to the office on the dates announced for the purpose.
A state-of-the-art infrastructure of international standards has been developed for each discipline of study that goes far beyond the stipulated requirement. We have very well planned laboratories built around a modular concept that simulates a near industry environment. Our IT infrastructure, comprising nearly 200 PCs and three state-of-the-art servers backed by professional System managers, is at par with the best in the country. With round the clock web access, our students can reach globally for enhancement of their knowledge and career.
Students’ accommodation in BuntaraBhavan Hostel is easier to find, cheaper to rent and more conveniently suited than in almost any other cities in the region. Bunts Sangha’s owned two hostels are available, one each for male and female students. Both these hostels are at a walking distance of about 2 minutes from the Bunts Sangha’s Higher Education Institutions campus.
SMS hall having capacity of 200 peoples is well air conditioned and used for organizing events, conferences, workshops, seminar, competitions, etc.
Free Bus service for the students to come and fro to the college as per the college timings.
